Sandstorm - What a pain to capture.
Well, this Elementalist is purely stumped about how to capture Sandstorm.
I attempted the Refuge mission with the Drought at the end, but, it ended it way to fast for the Signet to activate!
This skill is driving me insane because I need to capture it, and rest of my other Elementalist Skills before I move on to play my Mesmer in this game! Aiyaya!.
So, the question is this: What is the best way to capture it!?

I capped it last night on my ele, also going to cap it later on my monk (skill hunter title), we could go together tomorrow, perhaps.
I picked the long way, as in, capping it from Droajam... kill some monsters right near the Mouth of Torment, then just avoid some mobs until you reach the Poisoned Outcrops.
Then it gets tricky... first time my team got wiped by the boss mob.
Then I started thinking... I've tried capping it once before, and the team got wiped as well a couple of times, then I gave up... but now I noticed that there was only 1 other Sandstorm Crag... so I kept rezoning until it was only the boss and 3 Shambling Mesas. The boss died when the team had 3 peeps left (Kihm, Cynn and me).
Jin hardly interrupted anything, sadly. Should've given her BHA instead of Magebane Shot.

It's much easier to cap up in the desolation, but if that's not an option dropping winter should make it pretty easy to take care of the drought and co.

Ditto. Just focus on The Drought without killing the two droughtlings with him. Then cap at your leisure. I did it with heroes and henchies no problem.

I had to take off my usual heros using aoe damage to get him(resorting to heroes and henchman that could only do focused damage). I took master of whispers as a blood spiker necro, then a bunch of single damaging heros. Takes a while longer to get up to drought, but it helps a lot. And don't forget winter so you don't need to worry about all your hench dying.

Just cap it in the desolation. Simply daze him and he is nothing but a lousy joke.

O.o
o.O
If you want Sandstorm before the end of the game take Master of Whispers' route and cap it off The Drought.

W00t - someone else who finally sees the awesome power of Maelstrom. Maelstrom interrupts...so stick it on The Drought who is too lazy and "all powerful" to move out of the way and he's a pussy cat.

It's easy to capture Sandstorm from the mission as long as you know how to do it. It's especially fast because you can skip most everything and just go straight to the end.
Winter + any daze skill
I personally brought my ranger. Dropped a winter. Target Drought. Broadhead arrow. Sent in everyone to attack the Drought. Died far before the daze ran out.
If Broadhead arrow isn't an option, Maelstrom is fine. I haven't tried it, but Concussion shot probably will work too if you just send everyone to attack the Drought. Ranger heroes are great at interrupting.
The moment the Drought dies, capture.

If you are in a PuG, this skill might be hard to cap. My advice is to do the mission with heroes and hench. The mission is pretty easy to do if you either bring Winter or have everyone you can bring Mantra of Earth and bring a good prot healer or two with you. Maelstrom as suggested completely obliterates the Drought. Just make sure you kill the Drought before you finish off the nearby Droughtlings. If you are using heroes and hench, this should be easy since they will all go for the same target you do. If you use a PuG, you have to ask them to kill the drought first and hope they listen and are respectable enough to allow you to get your cap first before ending the mission.

winter + mantra of frost + broadhead = overkill
This cap takes about 10 mins and pretty much no one should die.
Also sending in your broadhead arrow ranger by himself to take the first hit is good because rangers have innate high armor vs elemental dmg.

Had no problems capping it from the Drought. To the point, my hench/hero team took out all the Drought's buddies in the "pool" except for the two that seem to be shmoozing him. Turn off the valve, then focus fire on the Drought leaving his two buddies alone. As soon as the Drought's dead, activate your Signet of Capture. Don't worry about his buddies, the hench/hero team will keep them busy while you get your cap. Then finish the last two Droughtlings off.
Good Luck!

Sorry I haven't replied, I haven't been getting any mails letting me know I have had replies in this thread.
But by the Drought, I don't understand why it didn't stay even for it to activate. Drove me nuts doing that mission then not getting what easy thing I wanted lol.
The Desolation I have had huge troubles with and what have you, so I am going to have to attempt the next time I get the chance to play with the Drought again.
